I NEED SHELTER
Individual Men & Women
If you are currently homeless and need to find shelter, please call us at (201) 348-8150. PERC has a total of 40 beds for individual men and women. Shelter can only be provided if a bed is available. However, we also offer an Overflow Center where if a bed is not available, you will be allowed to stay in our community center overnight if you wish (space is limited).
There are a few things you need in order to qualify for emergency shelter:
- You must have valid identification issued in Hudson County, NJ
- You must be 18 years of age or older (if you are age 18-21, you may also call Covenant House at 1-800-999-9999)
- You must be able to care for yourself without any assistance
- You must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
The shelter is a sleeping shelter only. It is closed during the day. We open at 6:00pm when dinner is served. All residents must depart in the morning at 7:30am (breakfast and a packed lunch are provided). Residents are allowed to return at 6:00pm.
Families
We have one unit that can accommodate a family (minimum 3 children required). Most families that are placed in the family unit come from a referring agency. Unfortunately, the need for family shelters is much greater than what is available. If you are a family who is currently homeless, please call the Hudson County Homeless Hotline at 1-800-624-0287. Two-parent families with children may also try St. Jude's Oasis at (201) 656-5771. Women with children can call the York Street Project at (201) 451-8225 or Hope House at (201) 420-1070.
