Our Mission: Defeat poverty by offering essential and fundamental services to the community.

The fact is that the majority of Americans work from paycheck to paycheck, never really preparing for the possible loss of their job or their livelihood.  Through education, advocacy and outreach, our community center acts as a support network to secure stability in the unfortunate loss of employment.

Our programs consist of the following:

ESL: Everyone should be able to speak English on the job front.  We provide four ESL classes each week.

Computers: We believe that in order for any person to be a competitive candidate for a job, he/she must be proficient on the computer.  We have therefore built a computer classroom, consisting of 10 computers donated by Eisai Inc, to teach excel, word, powerpoint, and use of the internet.  We have classes for beginning, intermediate, and advanced users.

Job training: We can all use a little coaching when preparing for a job interview.  With the help of volunteers, we create mock interview sessions for our clients and discuss all aspects of the typical job interview.  We also work on resumes and provide internships and job placements.

Motivation: We have devoted an entire floor of classrooms for such topics as creative writing, art therapy, music therapy, literacy, and self-awareness programs.  All classes provide an opportunity to explore hidden talents and channel future success.

Self-sufficiency: It is our goal to create a sense of self-confidence for our students.  In the face of unemployment, our graduates can be secure in the knowledge they have learned from our classes.
