Emergency Shelter
Our Mission: Our mission is to defeat the cycle of
poverty. We believe that each person is inherently due dignity and fullness of life regardless of status. We
provide our clients the knowledge they need to function as productive and self-sufficient citizens of society.
We invest in the future of our clients, seeking to transform each individual, thereby improving the community as a
whole. Above all, we seek to deliver our services in an atmosphere of respect, compassion, and common sense.
Our Clients: Located only a short commute
from Times Square in New York City, our clients come from all across the country and from all walks of life. On any
given day, we serve over 300 men, women, and children, each with various dreams of success and a common desire
for independence. Our doors are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Our Staff
PERC's staff, including social workers, counselors, and former clients, motivate
our clients to rise above their present difficulties. With over 25 years of experience, our staff has succeeded
in expanding and improving our services to meet the special needs of our diverse community.

Our emergency shelter houses 40 men and women every night.


Caseworkers become the main advocates for our clients.

Our Programs
PERC is a beacon of hope to individuals and families living in poverty
roaming the streets. We are the only agency in Hudson County providing shelter to homeless families.
Because
of our hard work and dedication, we are one of the leading social agencies providing the following services to our clients: - Emergency shelter - Meal kitchen (serving over 200 daily meals) - Food
pantry (serving 15 families per week) - Case management - Integrated living program - Preventative
services - Daily workshops -
Job placement services - Clothing & Grooming - AA/NA workshops - Advocacy - Medical and social service referrals
